Setting the Bar High To Ensure Your Satisfaction

Flying Dormer Home Remodel is a small company where customer satisfaction & quality construction are our top priorities. As the owner, I am actively involved in every project we take on, and often the actual carpentry work itself, which I still love doing. Like Mike Holmes from HGTV's Holmes on Homes, I believe in doing a job right the first time, and we stand behind our work.

Experience + Expertise

My professional background in carpentry spans nearly 30 years and began in the Netherlands where I’m from. I started out just out of high school crafting custom guitars for a small but highly respected guitar maker. My guitars were sold all over the world, even purchased by famous musicians like Lou Reed. After a few years making guitars, I went back to school to get my degree in Construction and spent several years working for residential & commercial construction companies before starting my own remodeling firm just outside Amsterdam in 1992. My primary focus was on remodeling and restoring older homes. From built-in cabinetry, to whole-house gut and remodels, I did it all. When you find something in life that you enjoy doing, it’s a pleasure going to “work” each day.

In 2004, I closed my business in the Netherlands and moved to Seattle with my wife, 3-year old son & infant daughter to be closer to my wife’s family. I spent a few years working for a local remodeling firm, getting to know the local building codes, suppliers & sub-contractors before starting my own firm again, Flying Dormer.

As a customer of Flying Dormer, you can expect courteous, personalized and professional service, craftsmen who care about your project and are responsive to your questions and requests, with the skill and experience needed to complete even the most challenging home remodeling project. I look forward to working with you and making the home you envision become a reality!

Lead Safe Certified

As a child growing up in the Netherlands, I was always taking things apart and putting them back together to see how they were made and what made them work. In a way, I’m still doing that, just on a larger scale. My job is to listen to what aspects of your home aren’t working for you and give you something that does. Whatever the problem, we build solutions & we build them well.
